Another Russian Bomber Intercepted

For the second time in a month, American fighter jets scrambled to intercept a Russian bomber that flew close to a contingent of United States Navy ships at sea, including the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Nimitz. The fighters flew alongside the bomber until it was out of the area.
As the military game continued out in the Pacific Ocean, so did the exasperation back in Moscow at the reaction to it. Captain First Class Igor Dygalo, a Russian Navy spokesman, told RIA Novosti that it was “surprising” to see the news media call it an “incident” when it was actually “common practice.” Downplaying it further, he said the bomber was not chased away by the Americans, it was “accompanied.”
