clipped from blogs.wsj.com A million invitations for the presidential inauguration next week have already been sent out. Printed on a Classic Crest Recycled 100 Natural White grade paper, the invitations are made of recycled fiber, with Alpharetta, Ga.-based maker Neenah Paper declaring it as the “greenest premium paper in the world.” “It reaffirms President-elect Obama’s position on the environment,” says Jim Donnelly, of Precise Continental, a Brooklyn, N.Y.-based printer, which did the engraving and the press run for the invitations. “He said he’s environmentally friendly and he’s putting his dollars where he said he would. He’s specifying a paper that meets his own criteria.”
Many attendees are being encouraged to car-pool and use public transit. Some are using Segways. Segs in the City, which rents out Segways, says one-third of its fleet has been booked already. |
